Mildew
Marie's Vineyard is located in the beautiful Pacific Northwest and as we get a lot of rain which helps keep our state green. Due to this wet weather i
t is not uncommon for homes in our area to develop mildew problems, especially on the white trim. It is recommended that you power wash your home at least once a year and treat all mildew promptly with a mildew remover and repaint areas with a mildew resistant paint.

Parking

Park Only on One Side of the Street
The City of Olympia mandates that parking in Marie's Vineyard is legal only on one side of the street. There are city "No Parking" signs along the right side (when turning onto Craig from 18th) and in all cul-de-sacs. It is illegal to park in these areas. This law is to accommodate emergency vehicles to keep us safe. If you are caught you will be ticketed for parking illegally.

Do Not Park on Sidewalks
It is also illegal to park on city owned sidewalks including all the sidewalks in Marie's Vineyard. Cars parked on sidewalks block the way for pedestrians and can crack and damage the sidewalks. You can receive a $30 parking ticket for obstructing the sidewalk.

To Report Sidewalks Blocked By Cars:
(360) 753-8300

Important Reminder to Marie's Vineyard Residents
Lets keep Marie's Vineyard a safe place to live. Please do not put your neighbors in danger by blocking access for fire trucks and other emergency vehicles. Always observe the "No Parking" signs and inform all your family and guests to do so as well. Even parking for "just a moment" could cost a neighbor their home or life.

Retention Ponds

There are three Retention Ponds located in Marie's Vineyard. The Marie's Vineyard Homeowner's Association (MVHOA) is under obligation by the City of Olympia to maintain these pond areas and comply with all city regulations.

Part of our Home Owner's dues is budgeted for this expense (for rental equipment), however we need volunteers to help us do the maintenance twice a year. If we do not keep the pond areas up to city standards, then the City of Olympia will undertake pond maintenance and bill the MVHOA. This cost will most likely be much higher than our budget and any costs would have to be passed onto you, the home owners.

Marie's Vineyard Volunteers Needed!
The Board of Directors needs resident volunteers to help with the maintenance of the pond areas twice a year. Help us stay in compliance with city regulations and save our money, by volunteering. Please contact the board of directors and volunteer today. Lets keep our neighborhood a pleasant place to live!

Speeding

Keep Kids Alive, Drive 25!
The speed limit in Marie's Vineyard is 25 MPH. It is illegal to exceed this limit. There have been numerous complaints of individuals speeding through our neighborhood and putting us and our families at risk. Please always observe the speed limit and inform all your visitors to do so as well. Repeat offenders will be reported to the police.

Reminder for Parents
Parents please teach and remind your children about road safety, and direct them to move off the street completely whenever a vehicle comes by.

Reminder for Marie's Vineyard Residents
There are many children who visit and live in Marie's Vineyard. Young children can unexpectedly run into the street at any time, so please always drive slowly and cautiously. Lets keep our neighborhood a safe and pleasant place to live!

Wildlife

Even though we are in a suburb Marie's Vineyard gets a variety of visiting wildlife. In addition to the usual neighborhood birds and squirrels, there are wild rabbits, possums, deer, raccoons, geese, ducks, and coyotes. Many of these animals are spotted in the green belt areas, but do occasionally wander down our street and into our yards.

Deer
The family of deer that lives in our area tend to cross the roads both day and night. They are frequently seen crossing 18th Avenue between Kempton and Allen. During spring they have been seen wandering down our road and into yards to snack on flowers. Please drive cautiously, especially at night when they are harder to spot.

Ducks & Geese
Many times during spring, summer, and early fall, when the Retention Ponds are full of water, we get visiting geese and ducks. Please do not feed them so as not to alter their natural diet, or make them dependent on humans.

Coyotes
There are coyotes who live in the tree areas around Marie's Vineyard and Allen street. They are rarely seen, but can often be heard at night. Please use extra caution around these wild animals. They are generally scared of humans and there have been no reports of incidences, but these animals could be a danger if provoked. It is recommended that you keep your cats indoors, especially at night, so they are safe from the coyotes.

Safety Concerns
Please do not attempt to touch or trap the animals. If any animal becomes a danger or nuisance, please contact Animal Services or, for the larger wild animals, WA Fish & Wildlife. Parents please teach your children about animal safety and to never approach or taunt a wild animal.
