Clean Cars - Clean Streams

When washing your cars and vehicles, please remember that our storm drains are meant for rain water run off and not waste (including soapy water). As harmless as it seems, soapy water is bad for our streams, lakes, storm water ponds, and Puget Sound.

The City of Olympia Public Works recommends that you use a commercial car wash for cleaning your vehicles as the wastewater goes to the water-treatment plant. Another option is washing your vehicle on a grassy area where the water that soaks into the ground is filtered naturally.

Reminder:
Don't let soapy, dirty water go down the storm drain!
