Clean
Cars - Clean Streams
When washing
your cars and vehicles, please remember that our storm drains
are meant for rain water run off and not waste (including soapy
water). As harmless as it seems, soapy water is bad for our
streams, lakes, storm water ponds, and Puget Sound.
The City
of Olympia Public Works recommends that you use a commercial
car wash for cleaning your vehicles as the wastewater goes to
the water-treatment plant. Another option is washing your vehicle
on a grassy area where the water that soaks into the ground
is filtered naturally.
Reminder:
Don't let soapy, dirty water go down the storm drain!
All trees
in Marie's Vineyard that are located between the sidewalk and
street, at the entrance to our neighborhood, and in the cul-de-sac
island are a part of the City
of Olympia Tree Plan.
These trees
are owned by the City of Olympia, but are required to be maintained
by the homeowners. We are all responsible for caring for and
maintaining the trees in front of our homes, and no front trees
can be removed with out permission from the city.
The city
offers Free Trees, to all residents and home owner associations
through the NeighborWoods
Program. We have already received and planted many trees
through this helpful program.

Note
for Marie's Vineyard Residents:
Occasionally we coordinate volunteer tree and pond maintenance
events. If you are interested in helping to keep our neighborhood
in compliance with city regulations, and looking beautiful,
please contact the Board of Directors.
We will keep you informed on all upcoming events.
Accidentally
digging into an underground utility line can be expensive and
dangerous.
Washington
State Law requires all residents to contact the Underground
Utilities Locating Center if you plan to dig a hole or trench
that is 12-inches or deeper in your yard or any common areas.
Please call at least two business days before you dig so they
may come out an mark the underground locations.
